Muhammad Shihata

Senior Software Engineer

I build production web applications end to end — data models, APIs, and the interfaces people use every day.

About Muhammad Shihata

Five years building software that ships. I currently work on financial SaaS for banks and institutional clients at Tangible Markets, where the work spans the whole stack — schema design, APIs, and the interfaces that replace manual processes.

Before that I led a product team as tech lead, taking a browser-based creative studio from the first commit to launch-ready: a small 2D editor, a lightweight PDF export flow, and the architecture decisions behind both.

I work best where ownership is real — shipping the feature, then staying accountable for how it performs in production. AI tooling sits in the loop day to day, helping me move faster without lowering the quality bar.

Senior Software Engineer · Tangible Markets (opens in a new tab)

    London, UK · Full-time, remote

Full-stack work on LiquidityHub, a marketplace for buying and selling private-equity positions — built most of the database and the bidding-to-closing logic, with idempotent webhook handling and same-transaction ledger writes so payment events are never double-counted.

  2. Jan 2024 — Nov 2024

Software Engineer / Tech Lead · Funcrane

    Freelance via Upwork

Led the team the project had grown into. With ~90% of the work in the frontend I had originally built, I set architecture direction, onboarded backend engineers moving into client-side work, reviewed their code, and drove the release plan to a launch-ready state.

  3. Mar 2021 — Dec 2023

Frontend Developer · Funcrane (opens in a new tab)

    Freelance via Upwork

Solo developer on a book-creation studio, built from the first commit: a 2D template editor on Konva and a PDF export pipeline that already generated multilingual, multi-version books from a single source layout. Two backend engineers joined later to optimize the API and build out a better architecture.

  4. May 2021 — Sep 2023

Full-Stack Developer · SphereMail (opens in a new tab)

    California, US · Full-time, remote

Owned the product end to end: a multi-tenant permission system (6 roles per client, shared database with app-level isolation), Stripe and Spreedly payments, QuickBooks accounting sync, and reporting/CSV exports over heavy joins. Also rebuilt 90% of the marketing site and closed 1,200+ tickets building and enhancing features.
